forscherstation.info

The Forscherstation enables educational professionals and teachers working in preschool, kindergarten and primary school to expand children’s natural interest in science.

The mysteries of outer space, fascination with fire, the intriguing lives of insects — kids are endlessly curious about natural phenomena. The Forscherstation was conceived to nurture this desire to learn. Launched in 2005 as a project at the Heidelberg University of Education, the program was initiated by the Klaus Tschira Foundation and established the Forscherstation’s mandate to develop training concepts for educational professionals. Today, an interdisciplinary team continues to evolve ideas that weave science into the fabric of early childhood educational programs.

The ultimate aim is to empower educators by expanding professional competencies and inspiring exploration of the natural world with children. The Forscherstation offers training programs and workshops, individual consultations and provides access to a wide range of educational materials, both analogue and digital. Ongoing evaluations and close cooperation with the Heidelberg University of Education in the field of applied and basic research on early science education enable a mutually beneficial flow of knowledge between the realms of research and practice.
