From November 4 to 11, the Heidelberg Laureate Forum Foundation (HLFF) together with the Karlstorkino Heidelberg invites all interested parties to immerse themselves in the world of mathematics and computer science. The program includes a varied mix of documentaries and feature films that put the spotlight on the life and work of outstanding scientists and tackle exciting questions relating to mathematics and computer science. And the special thing about it is that experts will be guests at the films or will join in live to answer questions and accompany the subsequent discussion.

- “Particle Fever” (2013, OF) | Saturday, November 4 : The opening film is a captivating documentary about the world of particle physics. It offers a unique look behind the scenes of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN and documents the attempt to unravel the mysteries of the universe.
- “Inside the Mind of Leonardo” (2013, OF) | Sunday, November 5: This mixture of documentary film and historical reconstruction takes viewers on a journey through the various phases of Leonardo da Vinci’s life.
- “AlphaGo” (2017 OmeU) | Monday, November 6: The documentary shows an exciting clash between the game “Go” and artificial intelligence (AI).
- “Flatland” (2007, English OF) | Tuesday, November 7: The animated film tells the story of Square A. Square, who experiences a transformative journey through different dimensions.
- “Algorithm-based camera surveillance” (2022, OF) | Wednesday, November 8: The documentary sheds light on the pilot project for monitoring public places, including criminal hotspots, which was launched in Mannheim in 2017.
- “Ready Player One” (2018, OVD, FSK: 12) | Thursday, November 9 : In this science fiction thriller, teenager Wade takes on a mega-corporation to protect the OASIS, a perfect virtual reality.
- “WarGames” (1983, OVD, FSK: 12) | Friday, November 10: This thriller tells the story of young computer hacker David Lightman, who accidentally stumbles across a military supercomputer programmed to simulate thermonuclear warfare.
- “Solving the Bonnet Problem” (2023, English OF) | Saturday, November 11: The documentary follows the work of three mathematicians who work together to solve a long-standing geometric problem.
Children’s movie theater:
On the occasion of the Mathematics – Computer Science Film Festival, the Karlstorkino will be showing the film “Robots” on November 5 and 12 at 3:00 pm. On November 5, a robot building workshop will take place after the screening. Information on the program and tickets
